Zeller Seezauber 2026: The Magic Lake Show in Zell am See – Times, Dates & Tickets

In short: the Zeller Seezauber runs from 14 May to 15 October 2026 in the Elisabethpark on the Esplanade in Zell am See. Daytime shows run every day on the hour between 1 pm and 6 pm; the big evening shows with light and lasers take place every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. An evening show lasts about 20 minutes, and admission is free. If you take away one thing: for the daytime show you can simply turn up. What time is the water show? All times at a glance

The Zeller Seezauber is really two different things, and visitors regularly confuse them. The daytime show is a water-and-music display: fountains dance across the lake surface in time with the music, without light or laser effects. It runs daily, on the hour from 1 pm to 6 pm – so at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 pm.

The evening show is the real spectacle. This is where coloured lighting, lasers and a fully choreographed soundtrack come in. Evening shows run every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and last around 20 minutes. In high summer they start at about 9:30 pm – only once it is properly dark.

One detail that will save you a wasted trip: the evening start time follows the sunset. In May and October it gets dark considerably earlier than in July, so the show begins earlier too. Check the exact start on the day of your visit in the events calendar.

The three evening programmes in 2026

Each evening date has its own theme. If you are staying several nights you can see all three – they differ noticeably in music and choreography.

• Tuesday – “Brass Pop”: Alpine brass music meets pop melodies. The most down-to-earth of the three, and the one with the strongest local character.
• Thursday – “Dolce Vita – Italo Classics”: Italian classics that relocate the lake to the Adriatic for twenty minutes. The clear favourite with summer guests.
• Sunday – “Flashback – The 80s, 90s and 00s”: Three decades of hits combined with the most intense laser work. If you can only see one evening show, this is the most spectacular.

Where exactly does it take place?

The venue is the Elisabethpark on the Esplanade, Elisabeth-Promenade 4, 5700 Zell am See – in the middle of town, right on the lakeshore. It is a few minutes’ walk from Zell am See railway station and the same from the old town. You do not need a car for this; if you are driving anyway, be aware that the parking spaces around the Esplanade fill quickly on show nights.

The best place to watch

The fountains sit in the lake in front of the Elisabethpark, so the show faces the water. The rule is simple: the closer you are to the water’s edge, the better. The promenade along the Esplanade is the classic viewing area and offers a clear view along its whole length.

For the daytime show this hardly matters – arrive five minutes beforehand and you will find a spot. For the Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evening shows in July and August, allow half an hour, especially if you have children who actually want to see something. A practical plan: eat in town first, then walk the few steps down to the promenade.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. The Zeller Seezauber is a free public event run by Zell am See-Kaprun Tourismus GmbH. There are no tickets, no box office and no reserved seating, and you do not need a guest card or a booking – you simply show up. That makes it one of the very few real programme highlights in the region that costs a family nothing at all.

Is it worth going in bad weather?

Light rain barely affects the daytime show – you will only get wet if the wind is against you. In a thunderstorm or strong winds a show may be cancelled at short notice, which is understandable for an installation combining water, electricity and laser equipment. What to combine it with

The show lasts 20 minutes – on its own it will not carry an evening.
