Christmas Tree Dive by the Water Rescue Service

Every 25 December, the ASBÖ Wasserrettung Zell am See retrieves a Christmas tree that divers have sunk 15 metres deep in Lake Zell. From 5pm, rescue divers raise the tree ceremonially to the surface, accompanied by a brass ensemble and a ring of torch-bearing swimmers, before a small fireworks display closes the evening. Now in its 49th year, the tradition draws locals and visitors to the Oberschneiderbucht bay, where mulled wine and punch are served from a hut starting at 4pm.
